Craftsmanship
Our coin jewellery brings together a genuine historic coin and jewellery made by Roberts & Co. We carry out the jewellery-making processes in-house, from selecting the coin to making its setting, assembling the necklace and applying its finish. The coins themselves were struck historically by the Royal Mint.
The coin
We select genuine historic coins by their date, denomination and struck design. Each is an original Royal Mint coin, with the portraits, lettering and relief of its period. Circulation leaves individual marks on the surface; these remain part of the finished piece. We do not mint or reproduce the coins.

The setting
We make and fit the setting or attachment in-house, connecting the original coin to the jewellery. Its edge and the loop above it frame the coin while leaving its struck details visible. Construction varies between designs; each product description identifies its setting and metal.
The chain
We assemble the necklace in-house, bringing the pendant, chain, connecting rings and clasp together. Link shape, thickness and length affect how the pendant sits. Compare the photographs with the available chain lengths, and read the coin, setting and chain specifications individually.

The finish
Finishing and gold plating are carried out in-house. A polished setting reflects light differently from the worn relief of a circulated coin, giving the finished piece its contrast of surfaces. Gold plating is a surface finish over the metal specified in the listing, distinct from solid gold. Care should suit the complete piece, including its coin, setting and chain.
